It's a beautiful sunny day in Arizona today! Big surprise, right? I am running on almost zero sleep, have two sick children and just got a nasty e-mail from a bridezilla. So I am grateful for the predictable sunny beautiful day!
I have been trying to get my business started up in Arizona for a few months now. It is difficult to go from Virginia photographer to Arizona photographer overnight. The results have been not so encouraging, but it has only been a little over 2 months so I can't really expect it to be booming, a girl can hope.
I have been going to different seminars, listening to online classes and networking with other photographers. Each time I do I learn something new. The last seminar I went to was Jasmine Star's The Fix. It was totally what I needed! Jasmine Star is a photographer. She is a specialist in wedding photography. She only shoots weddings because she decided that is what she was the most passionate about. She is a high end wedding photographer. I took notes and listened to her tell her experience getting to where she is now. As I listened and pondered what I heard, I got to thinking... Do I want to be a specialist? If yes, what do I want to specialize in? Well, I answered both of those questions but I am not ready to divulge the answers yet. ;) By the end of this year I think I will be ready.
I know this post today is a little random and vague. Let me try to gather my thoughts... I am just thankful for friends and family that support me and give me loving words of encouragement. I am thankful for people who try to understand where others are coming from instead of assuming the worst and saying hurtful words that you can't take back. Unfortunately the bride that e-mailed me was not one of these, but I hope she has a happy life anyway. I am grateful for fellow photographers that want to work together and help one another instead of being cut-throat and keeping everything to themselves. Thank you to Jasmine Star for sharing her successes and secrets. You helped me to pin myself down! :)
What is a post with out a picture? So, here is my happy little family! Happy thoughts to you all and here is hoping you will find that ray of sunshine today!
